Entry requirements

Basic eligibility for higher education and the following specific powers: Dental Degree. Special permission was also the one who through Swedish or foreign education, practical experience or because of any other circumstances, have the potential to benefit from the education.

Organisation

To obtain the Master degree the student shall have completed a degree project of 30 higher education credits. The program runs full-time. All courses are part-time and run parallel during the program. Examination is done separately for each course in which examiners and supervisors are appointed by the Education Committee. Grades are pass or fail.

Learning outcomes

General objectives
The Higher Education Act (SFS 1992:1434, Chapter 1 § 9) provides that:
"Second level education shall involve a deepening of knowledge, skills and abilities relative to first level education and, in addition to what applies to first level education,

  • Further develop students' ability to independently integrate and use knowledge,
  • Develop students' ability to deal with complex phenomena, issues and situations, and
  • Develop students' potential for professional activities that demand considerable independence or for research and development. Act (2006:173). "
The Master's degree is awarded after the student has completed course requirements of 120 credits, including at least 60 credits with depth in the main field. In addition, it is required Bachelor's degree of at least 180 ECTS or equivalent degrees.

Knowledge and understanding
Upon completing this programme students will:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in their main field odontology, including both an overview and deeper knowledge of certain parts of the area.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how to conduct research and development in your area.
  • Demonstrate deeper methodological knowledge in their main field odontology and especially in the studied area
Skills and competences
Upon completing this programme students will:
  • Demonstrate an ability to integrate knowledge and to analyze, assess and deal with complex phenomena, issues and situations, even with limited information
  • Demonstrate an ability to independently identify and formulate issues and to plan and use appropriate methods, carry out advanced tasks within specified time frames
  • Demonstrate the ability to in an international environment, orally and in writing, to present and discuss their conclusions and the knowledge and arguments that form the basis for these
  • Demonstrate the skills required to participate in research and development work or to work in other advanced contexts

Judgment and approach
Upon completing this programme students will:
  • Demonstrate an ability to in the main field odontology make judgments with regard to the relevant scientific, social and ethical aspects, and demonstrate an awareness of ethical aspects of research and development
  • Demonstrate insight into the possibilities and limitations, its role in society and the responsibility for its use
  • Demonstrate an ability to identify the need for further knowledge and to take responsibility for developing their knowledge

Degree

Master's Degree (120 credits).

Master degree
After the education on the programme is accomplished the requirements for the master degree in Dental Science are fulfilled. The degree certificate states the title Master (two years) in Dental Science.
Malmö University issues a degree certificate after receiving the student’s application.
